CUL DE SAC--The fateful KFC sponsored cricket tournament which started in June is set to restart once again at the Caribe Lumber Ballpark, this weekend.
The tournament was forced to stop for four weeks after just one round of matches to allow the national cricketers to begin training for the Leeward Islands T-20 tournament in July. The tournament was stopped again to give the national players a chance to practice for the NAGICO Leeward Islands one-day and Leeward Islands three-day tournaments.
Both tournaments did not start on the scheduled date because of Hurricane Earl. Therefore, another stoppage is eminent. But for now, local cricketers and fans could enjoy some home cricket.
On Saturday Shop-4-Less Everest and A&A Supplies Friar's Bay are scheduled to face each other in a B-Division clash. And on Sunday, WIB Pioneers and B&C Spartans square off.
The winner of this match would top Group B in the A-Division. Both teams have already qualified for the semi-final.
In the B-Division, Everest have booked their first semi-final spot after their formation two years ago. Friar's Bay would not qualify even if they win the match but could push out Future Champs and make room for Motorworld Kaieteur.
The match on Saturday bowls off at 1:00pm for a duration of 30 overs per side, while on Sunday the match begins at 9:30am and each team will be allotted 50 overs.
