Fighting for the right cause

Dear Editor,

I have no doubt that most people living in St. Maarten and most politicians have no idea that Country St. Maarten will create events they do not expect.

A friend of mine living here for more than 25 years, who is a real Dutch by heritage, told me that many years ago he was refused a photography job by a local news paper because he was European. He was told by the owner of the newspaper "we are looking for Caribbean people for that job." (In reality no whites only blacks). Here again it comes back to why native St. Maarteners must be recognised.

We have lots of people from Asian and the Middle Eastern ancestry who were born here. Would we then discriminate against them because they are not black? William Marlin and his anti-St. Maarten Party (National Alliance) do not discriminate only against native St. Maarteners but I know for a fact many of them do not like white people especially Dutch and French Europeans.

I have proof in writing to show you how they think and I can back it up. We native St. Maarteners do not believe in racism, we have native St. Maarten people with different colours of skin and we love all of them. As native St. Maarten people we continue to include once we are recognised. For Country St. Maarten to be at peace with its multi- ethnic population you need people of originality to combine all people in St. Maarten to make us one.

Only fools believe that some professional could tell someone if he or she is a St. Maartener. An Arab, Chinese or an Indian will always be who they are. And I have no problem if they give first preference to their people. What I do not understand though is how someone who is a Johnny can come lately and find a problem with the native St. Maarten people, because they deserve recognition.

Many people who were born in Aruba (mainly black people), Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, St. Croix, the Netherlands, Guadeloupe and Martinique with parents from St. Maarten, Saba and Statia were reminded that they cannot have preference before the people of those countries. Again I never see them willing to go fight the native people of Aruba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, St. Croix, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Holland.

But yes, everybody that just got here wants to be equal with the native St. Maarteners. Our plight is not one of exclusion or segregation, but we are fighting for our rights and our cause to survive as a people. Just like the Jews and the indigenous or native Indians in South America and the Cherokee in United States and Canada. Like the aborigines in Australia.

So if you hate us for our cause feel free to do so, but we will pursue with our cause and there will be no peace until justice is done to the rightful owners of this country, who were neglected by the Democratic Party and now Judas and his anti-St. Maarten Party Alliance that team up to make sure all of us are terminated.

The cause we are fighting for is a just and moral one. A fight we must pursue to our grave for the sake of our children and grand children. There is compulsory education to make sure all children of law breakers (illegal immigrants) go to school, there is a fund to educate the criminals in jail and they call it rehab.

Every system or organisation caters to any and every thing that is foreign but when Jeffry Richardson, Leopold James and Miguel Arrindell fought for the few native St. Maarten people like ourselves because we value love for our country before we value love and loyalty to political parties we are called radicals. Well guess what! If defending me and the values of a St. Maartener is radical, so be it. There is only one thing left to do; you can either join us or fight us.

We are ready to go the distance because our cause is moral and just. Just Like Martin Luther King and African Americans are minority in the U.S.A their cause is right and just and with the grace of God I have no doubt we will prevail. As God said; as we walk through the valley of death we will fear no evil. We will pursue our mission to the end. I know for a fact that many naturalised foreigners agree with us and many native and born here St. Maarten people agree with us.

On Election Day take Mcsood's money from the anti-St. Maarten, Party National Alliance, take the Democratic Party's money, take Theo Heyliger's money along with Ansary (former Mullet Bay owner) put on their shirts and go out and vote CPA. Return them the favour they have done to us for years, that is deception.

Never be afraid to say you were born here and you love St. Maarten, all born St. Maarteners respect those people who were here before you and love one another. In closing remember I am fighting to unite all people in St. Maarten, but native St. Maarteners must be first then a little while we all become native St. Maarteners. Feel free to hate me or kill me, as the good book says love your enemy, so I have to love you because it commanded me to. Our cause is to continue fighting. Only when the native St. Maartener is included then we can be united.

Miguel Arrindell
