AIRPORT--Parents and friends tearfully bid farewell on Friday to 38 St. Maarten students who left for studies in the Netherlands.
Medical, business, and other students took their first step into life in Holland, in the hopes of having a brighter future. Education Commissioner William Marlin had urged the students on Wednesday to return to St. Maarten to contribute to the island's development and economy.
The students are scheduled to arrive at the Netherlands' Schiphol Airport today, Saturday, where they will meet liaisons from St. Maarten Student Support Services S4 who will help them become acclimated to the new country.
